The Harvest

¨Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up.¨ Galatians 6:9

I toiled in the sun as it beat down upon my brow. Sweat trickled down my face and my salty taste buds were activated as I moistened my parched lips with the saliva from my tongue. The harvest isn’t always bountiful. I have even destroyed my own crops out of frustration. The ground was hard, which made it much more difficult to cultivate the soil. I planted many seeds. I nurtured and cared for sprouting plants. Some years, they did not make it to maturity. They were scorched by the extreme heat. Weeds sucked up their nutrients. Animals have carried them away to their table. I gave up and the harvest was few, but it was enough. Other years, I persevered despite the circumstances and the harvest was bountiful. There was enough to allow others to glean in my field. When you see the evidence of my harvest, know that it is the result of God working in my life and I how I chose to work in my field.

“I the Lord search the heart and test the mind to give every man according to his ways, according to the fruits of his deeds.” Jeremiah 17:10
