Our last day on the road. We were short on time because Kyla wanted to go to her best friend’s graduation party on Saturday. We were on I15 south towards home. Just 10 more hours together in this confined space. The temperature had changed drastically. For the majority of our trip, I don’t think we ever felt 80 degrees. It was that hot already at 9 a.m. The landscape had faded from green to dry brown. So sad. Three hours away, we stopped in Salt Lake City, UT (home of the headquarters of the LDS Church) at the Temple Square. We walked around, went inside the tabernacle, then got back in the van and searched for a grocery store. Smith’s Marketplace had EVERYTHING in it! Upstairs was clothing, jewelry, cosmetics, home decor and more. Downstairs was the grocery store. I purchased MORE snacks, in hopes it would last us until we got home. A little more than 4 hours until we reached St. George, UT. We made a pitstop there at Red Hills Desert Garden. It was absolutely too hot to enjoy the gardens. 104 degrees! It was a short stop. We got icees and gas. By now, gas was back to over $5. Only 4 more hours until home! ETA-9:00 p.m. Well, we stopped at the state line for our last restroom break. Then we stopped in Barstow at Del Taco. The last stretch was only 45 more minutes. Finally, at 10:30 p.m.,12 days, 7, 000 miles later, we were home!
